WinCalendar is only available for Windows. The calendar creator actually runs through either MS Word or Excel, which makes for easy printable calendar creation. The calendar creation feature allows you to create printable calendars with over seventy layouts. There is support for stored daily appointments (up to 20 on free version), and more. You can customize both size and features of the calendar, scroll through a perpetual calendar, and copy selected dates to the clipboard. WinCalendar is a well-designed desktop calendar that offers the ability to create printable calendars (for both MS Word and Excel), and load by hotkey. Rainlendar is available for Windows, OS X, and Linux. You can even mix and match the skins to create a very unique layout. There is also plenty of customization available for Rainlendar with skins. Rainlendar is standards based, cross platform, and allows you to choose from various layouts. You can also share your calendar and subscribe to other’s calendars, import and edit your Outlook calendars, and much more. Rainlendar allows you to set up alarms, reminders, tasks, and events. Rainlendar doesn’t have the most user-friendly name, but it’s an outstanding entry in the desktop calendar group. The only negative thing I have to say about it at all is that since the author lives in Finland, which is one of the places in the world that follows the ISO 8601 standard for week dates, the numbering is usually wrong based on a "standard" US calendar but this is easy to adjust in the options, or you can just turn them off if you don't need them. ![]() I like the default skin except for the large "Today" circle that obliterates the double-digit dates, but no problem-I just created my own rectangular border and replaced the default one with mine. Rainlendar is easy to read and blends well with the desktop. I wanted a small calendar to put on the desktop above the system tray that's easy to navigate.
